the rest of 2019 and start of 2020

We got back from Indianapolis and the marching band was still playing at football games... they school made the first round and won their game in the playoffs while we were in Indy.  So we had two playoff games I think after we were back.   Ashley was able to come home for a few days the week of thanksgiving and I still had a couple shows at the pavilion I was finishing up the 2019 season with, and at the same time the color guard started gearing up for their winter season, and the band kids were auditioning for region band.  Alyssa tried out for Region Band and made the first call back, and then did her second part of the tryout's and made the region band!  It was a great accomplishment for her and validated all the practice she had put into her audition piece.  We had fun going and watching her play with her region band. 


The same week- the Color guard had their auditions to split into the World Guard and the A Guard.  World Guard is the highest level.  Angela being a freshman- we expected her to be in the A Guard and she was in the middle of an orthodontist appointment, when her phone started going crazy buzzing with text messages.  She had made the World guard...  This opened up a possibility of us being able to plan a trip during Spring Break.  If she was on A guard- they had a competition at the end of the break and we would have to be back by the friday morning... but World guard didn't have anything planned for the whole break. 

Since it was the only week of the entire year that all the girls were scheduled to be out of school or practices... we decided to go forward and schedule a trip to Disney and Universal Studio's for Spring Break.

Alex was able to come home for a week at Christmas... while Ashley was scheduled to work on Christmas Eve and two other days close to it... so she came home the week before Christmas, and then about 4 days after Christmas.  We had 3 days with both her and Alex at home before he headed back to Utah.  All in all it was nice to have them home and have some time with the whole family around.

School started back up and life got into a busy (but not as busy as marching season) schedule.  Rich and I were called to be the Nursery Leaders so we got to play with the babies in the Nursery on Sunday's. :)

I was able to chaperone a couple of the Color Guards competitions, and again was involved in the booster organization.  It keeps me busy and allows me to get to know the other parents better- making it fun to go and support the guard at their competitions. 



Angela was at practice one day and I got a phone call from the assistant director.  Angela had taken a flag pole to the face and it was bleeding quite a bit...  so i went and picked her up and we went to the urgent care to get it checked out.  They decided that super glue would be better than stitches... so she didn't have to deal with the pain of stitches.  We just had to keep it clean and dry for a few days while it healed up.


 Every competition we went to it was great to see the changes and everything they added to the shows.  The A guard was doing outstanding and the World guard kept adding more and more difficulty and I loved watching the shows develop.  The last weekend in February was a competition in Austin, so Rich and I went and spent the weekend there so we could watch them compete both days.  Ashley drove up from San Antonio with a friend that Saturday and joined us to watch the competition, and then we were able to go and have dinner with them before they headed back to San Antonio- she had to work the next day.


Little did we know that this would be their last competition for the season.  The season was cancelled when things started shutting down with the Corona Virus.

House projects

After a few weeks of Rich working from home, we decided that we needed to do some moving around of stuff in the house.  The exercise equipment needed to be taken out of the office, and we made the decision to dismantle Alex's room since it's downstairs and that would become the new exercise room.  His stuff got packed up, and the room was painted and the treadmill was put into that room (which was a feat of it's own!  It won't come out of that room until we move away, and maybe not even then! lol! The office got a coat of paint as well and two of the bathrooms.  Now the entire house (except for closets) has been painted since we had moved in 3 years before. But then the biggest house project was thought of, and debated and decided on.  We had always said that we would like to redo the kitchen in this house, and decided to tackle the project.  We found cabinets online we liked and worked with a company to decide on our cabinet layout, and we ordered them....

2013 Tour of California: days 12, 13- Six Flags Magic Mountain, Hollywood

Sunday, June 2nd.   After church in Santa Rosa, we made our way south to Six Flags Magic Mountain. Monday, June 3rd.   Ashley had been waiting forever to go to this amusement park.  She is the thrill ride queen and can't ever get enough of the fast crazy rides.  Rich's brother Dave and his family (who the kids and I stayed with on the drive out) drove out from Arizona and joined us as he and Amanda are thrill ride junkies too. :)  We had a great time- so good that I didnt take very many pictures, but we spent two and a half days at Magic Mountain and had fun the whole time. Tuesday, June 4th.   After spending a few more hours at Magic Mountain, we drove down to Hollywood.  We stopped and walked along the walk of fame and found the stars and handprints of famous actors we like.  Most of those pictures are on Ashley's phone, so I'll have to add them later. :) That evening we checked into our home for the next four nights- Disney's Grand California H...

Our Dog Tale...

So... we have spent the last three weeks looking at puppies online, finding one that would be great for our family. We found an adorable little 4 month old black lab from a lab rescue in Tulsa, about an hour and a half drive away. We contacted them, and filled out the adoption application paperwork. Sent pictures of our fenced back yard, and got approved to adopt her. The lab rescue had named her Regina, for their records mainly- they generally called her puppy and girld so that she would easily adapt to a new name. We bought a large crate (she would get big!) and food bowls and a collar, leash and tag for her and on Saturday we drove to Tulsa to pick her up. The lab rescue was doing an adoption fair, so they had all the dogs they were trying to adopt out at a Petsmart and we meet them there. We got there around 1pm. As I was walking over there were a few people asking about a cute little puppy, and I overheard that it was Regina, and she was being adopted... I then said that I was Jul...
