THE NEWTON'S

Well we got an ice/snow storm last thursday and friday so we have all been home since Thursday! Well the girls and I got out of the house yesterday and played at a friends house, and last night Rich and I went out with some friends for dinner and a movie. I was hoping the kids would be back at school tomorrow... but the roads are still too slick for the busses to be able to maneuver in the neighborhoods to pick up kids. So we are home tomorrow too. Lucky Rich get's to go back to work. :) The kids have been having fun playing outside a little bit, and playing on the computers inside a lot! They've watched lots of tv and movies and played games. I think we all will be ready for school on tuesday. I hope we do have school tuesday... :)

Last week Alyssa's class at school made ice cream in a bag. It was a lot of fun and a huge success! Here's the recipe: 1 cup milk (they used 1%, but I would probably use whole milk so it's a little bit creamier) 2 tbsp sugar 1 tsp vanilla Pour those items into a quart size ziplock bag. Seal the bag, and get most of the air out. Place the quart size bag into a gallon size ziplock bag. Add about 4 cups of ice, and 6 tablespoons of salt (they used the icecream maker rock salt, but I've seen recipe's that just call for salt... )to the gallon size bag. Seal it removing most of the air. Put on some gloves, and gently squeeze the quart size bag inside of the gallon bag... you can hold it on the corners and shake it back and forth, lay it on a counter and squish back and forth with your fingers across the bags... have another gallon size bag available in case your outer bag starts to leak. As you move it around you'll see the ice crystals start to form, and it will ...

I'm just starting out learning to digital scrapbook. I like that I can do it without it requiring the physical space that traditional scrapbooking needs. I am getting a few pages done at a time, and I can work on it, put it completely away and then come back to it without feeling like pulling stuff out and cleaning up take too long. I feel like there is tons to learn, but I'm having fun. So far here are two of my beginning layouts...
