DisneyWorld November 2010 Day 9

We meant to get up bright and early and get to the park at park opening, but we didn't... we slept in yet again.  The tragedy of this was that we were not able to ride the Toy Story ride at Hollywood studio's.  By the time we got there the line was 110 minutes!  As much as I enjoy the ride, no ride is worth waiting in line for almost 2 hours to go on a 2 mintue ride.

We hit Rock-n-Roller coaster first and then Tower of Terror. Alex and Angela stayed behind while Alyssa, Ashley, Rich and I rode the Tower of Terror.




We went to the Stunt show and they were having a bad day.  I've never seen them stop the show for technical difficulties before, and this time I think they had 3-4 major technical problems that slowed the show down.  It is a very cool look at the precision that the movies put behind special effects though.

 The Backlot tour is always a favorite.  We love to see the different items they have sitting in the "boneyard" from different movies.

 And since we are Indiana Jones Fans, the Indiana Jones stunt show is another favorite of ours.

 But my favorite thing of the day was that night.  This is the reason I wanted us to take this trip to Disney during the Holiday season.  The Osborne Spectacle of Lights.  The pictures cannot do it justice and it is so cool and amazing to see this whole city scape lit up and when the music is going and they are all blinking on and off and cue'd to the music perfectly.  I loved all the lights, even the lights on the bikes and kids play toys.








 I snapped a picture of this on our way out.  From what we've read the hat will be taken down in some future improvements.  It might be the last time we see it.

After we got back to our hotel Alex reminded us that we hadn't checked out the fireworks from the top of our hotel.  There is an observation deck that only those staying at the Hotel can get to and view the fireworks at the magic kingdom with the sound playing on the speakers up there.  It was a really neat view.  It was freezing cold, but really neat to watch from there.

The next day we woke up, packed up all of our stuff and checked our luggage in at the magical express desk.  We dropped our backpacks off with the valet services for us to pick up later before we headed to the airport, and then went over to the Magic Kingdom for a few more hours of fun before we had to leave to the airport.  A family picture in front of the castle.  Watching the Disney Christmas special being filmed in front of the Castle with some popular teen singers, riding splash mountain again, and a few other rides we had missed before.  Alex was feeling sick, so he and Rich took it easy and found some quiet spots while the girls and I hit some of the rides.  Then we went back to the hotel, grabbed some snacks for the plane ride home and a light early dinner and waved goodbye to Disney for this trip.

Rocky Mountains and Idaho

We left Rich's sister and brother and their families in Keystone and headed on to Julie's family reunion in Island Park Idaho. The drive was gorgeous. I can't get enough of the views as we drove through the mountains. I was surprised at the quality of pictures I was able to get through the windshield of the car while we were speeding along at 60+ mph!  (sorry for the wierd formatting of pictures... trying different options of hosting sites here! :)) Upon arrival at the cabin in Idaho we wasted no time and started the games and fun. Grandma (my mom) had some things she shouted out and everyone that fit in the group would go and sit by the fireplace for a group picture... "A" names, Born in Utah, Born east of the missisippi, etc... it ended with all the girls and all the guys taking group pictures. The next day we went on a gorgeous hike. The kids surprised us and just took off on the hike. We had to send Rich off to catch up with them instead of tagging bac...

House projects

After a few weeks of Rich working from home, we decided that we needed to do some moving around of stuff in the house.  The exercise equipment needed to be taken out of the office, and we made the decision to dismantle Alex's room since it's downstairs and that would become the new exercise room.  His stuff got packed up, and the room was painted and the treadmill was put into that room (which was a feat of it's own!  It won't come out of that room until we move away, and maybe not even then! lol! The office got a coat of paint as well and two of the bathrooms.  Now the entire house (except for closets) has been painted since we had moved in 3 years before. But then the biggest house project was thought of, and debated and decided on.  We had always said that we would like to redo the kitchen in this house, and decided to tackle the project.  We found cabinets online we liked and worked with a company to decide on our cabinet layout, and we ordered them....

Our Dog Tale...

So... we have spent the last three weeks looking at puppies online, finding one that would be great for our family. We found an adorable little 4 month old black lab from a lab rescue in Tulsa, about an hour and a half drive away. We contacted them, and filled out the adoption application paperwork. Sent pictures of our fenced back yard, and got approved to adopt her. The lab rescue had named her Regina, for their records mainly- they generally called her puppy and girld so that she would easily adapt to a new name. We bought a large crate (she would get big!) and food bowls and a collar, leash and tag for her and on Saturday we drove to Tulsa to pick her up. The lab rescue was doing an adoption fair, so they had all the dogs they were trying to adopt out at a Petsmart and we meet them there. We got there around 1pm. As I was walking over there were a few people asking about a cute little puppy, and I overheard that it was Regina, and she was being adopted... I then said that I was Jul...
