DisneyWorld November 2010 Day 4&5

We slept in and didn't wake up until around 11am!  WOW!  I can't remember the last time we went on vacation and slept in that late.  We took it easy and hung out in our rooms, got up and headed to Downtown Disney.  We picked up some lunch there and window shopped and then went and saw the new Harry Potter Movie.  Afterwards we went back to the hotel and checked out the activities around the grounds of the resort.  We tried our hands at playing Bocce ball, and table tennis.  The kids went swimming in the pool and then we went to dinner at one of my favorite Disney Restaurants... Boma.  I LOVE the food there.  It's just unique and great.  They didn't have my favorite soup out that day, but I found plenty of other stuff that I liked.

Then we called it a day and went back to the hotel. 

You would have thought that since we slept in so late the day before, we would be up and ready to go early the next day.  But we enjoyed sleeping in again.  We didn't sleep in quite as late as we had the first day.  We caught some breakfast at the quick service in the Contemporary and enjoyed watching the birds fly around inside the atrium. 

Then we went up the escalator, hopped onto the Monorail, and went to the Magic Kingdom. 
We hit some favorite rides in Future World first... Buzz Lightyear, the RaceTrack, and Alyssa went on Space Mountain with a little hesitation.






 We always get some great fun pictures of kids sitting around and waiting.  Here are Alex and Angela and Alyssa biding their time while Rich and Ashley ride Space Mountain.

 Two excited girls getting ready to NOT spin on the tea cups... they said they didn't want to spin, so I kept the cup from spinning and they got upset at me because we didn't spin enough. lol! :)

 A must picture for me.  I Have to get pictures of my girls on the carousel when we go to Disney.  It is one of My disney traditions. :)


 We spent some time running around Tom Sawyer's Island.  There's the fort and all sorts of caves and paths the kids get to run around and explore.

 For dinner we went to the Crystal Palace.  We had to wait awhile, and I was greatful for the items we had on hand to keep the kids buisy...  Alex just needs a map of the park and schedule to memorize.  Ashley just needs a phone to call her best friend.  Alyssa is completely occupied taking pictures with our older camera- which allows me to snap pictures of her taking pictures.  Angela is happy looking through pictures on the camera with daddy or mommy...


 Dinner was great.   You may think our kids are too old for the excitement of seeing Pooh bear and his friends, but they are such classic disney characters that the kids have grown up with, that we all had a great time.  The food was pretty good too! :)









 It was extra magic hours that night for Disney Resort Guests, and for the very first time we took advantage of that.  We went to ride the favorite ride of all the older kids... SPLASH MOUNTAIN!  First Ashley, Alyssa Rich and I went on the ride.  Alyssa was a little nervous- she had gone on it before, but didn't remember it much.  Alex wasn't ready to ride it yet so he stayed behind with Angela in the great play area they have right at the exit under the train station.  After our first ride, the girls wanted to ride again, and Alex had decided he was ready to ride it- so Rich and all the big kids went on it.  As they came off and the line to go on it was a short 5 minutes, they wanted to go again, so I rode it with them again, and Rich stayed with Angela.  By the time we were done with that ride we were soaked, but we got off and Rich had talked Angela into trying the ride... so we went on it again!  The girls wound up going on the ride 4 times, and Rich, Alex and I went on it 3 times... Angela just once.


 Ashley and Alyssa were little co-conspirators and were having the time of their lives... singing along with the song during the ride.
 After getting increasingly soaked on splash mountain, Angela was ready to try another thrill ride.  We got in line for Big Thunder Mountain Railroad.  It was right as they were having the electric light parade and the line was non-existant.  We walked right onto the ride.  Angela grabbed the grab bars in a death grip and held on for dear life... and LOVED it!  We rode it 4 times in a row!  If you ask her now what her favorite ride at Disney is, she'll probably say Thunder Mountain Railroad. :)
 As we were leaving the park that night at midnight, I had to snap a picture of the lit up castle.

House projects

After a few weeks of Rich working from home, we decided that we needed to do some moving around of stuff in the house.  The exercise equipment needed to be taken out of the office, and we made the decision to dismantle Alex's room since it's downstairs and that would become the new exercise room.  His stuff got packed up, and the room was painted and the treadmill was put into that room (which was a feat of it's own!  It won't come out of that room until we move away, and maybe not even then! lol! The office got a coat of paint as well and two of the bathrooms.  Now the entire house (except for closets) has been painted since we had moved in 3 years before. But then the biggest house project was thought of, and debated and decided on.  We had always said that we would like to redo the kitchen in this house, and decided to tackle the project.  We found cabinets online we liked and worked with a company to decide on our cabinet layout, and we ordered them....

2013 Tour of California: days 12, 13- Six Flags Magic Mountain, Hollywood

Sunday, June 2nd.   After church in Santa Rosa, we made our way south to Six Flags Magic Mountain. Monday, June 3rd.   Ashley had been waiting forever to go to this amusement park.  She is the thrill ride queen and can't ever get enough of the fast crazy rides.  Rich's brother Dave and his family (who the kids and I stayed with on the drive out) drove out from Arizona and joined us as he and Amanda are thrill ride junkies too. :)  We had a great time- so good that I didnt take very many pictures, but we spent two and a half days at Magic Mountain and had fun the whole time. Tuesday, June 4th.   After spending a few more hours at Magic Mountain, we drove down to Hollywood.  We stopped and walked along the walk of fame and found the stars and handprints of famous actors we like.  Most of those pictures are on Ashley's phone, so I'll have to add them later. :) That evening we checked into our home for the next four nights- Disney's Grand California H...

Our Dog Tale...

So... we have spent the last three weeks looking at puppies online, finding one that would be great for our family. We found an adorable little 4 month old black lab from a lab rescue in Tulsa, about an hour and a half drive away. We contacted them, and filled out the adoption application paperwork. Sent pictures of our fenced back yard, and got approved to adopt her. The lab rescue had named her Regina, for their records mainly- they generally called her puppy and girld so that she would easily adapt to a new name. We bought a large crate (she would get big!) and food bowls and a collar, leash and tag for her and on Saturday we drove to Tulsa to pick her up. The lab rescue was doing an adoption fair, so they had all the dogs they were trying to adopt out at a Petsmart and we meet them there. We got there around 1pm. As I was walking over there were a few people asking about a cute little puppy, and I overheard that it was Regina, and she was being adopted... I then said that I was Jul...
