Spring Break

We decided to end our spring break with a quick unplanned trip down to Dallas. We decided on wed night to do something, then Thursday finalized our plans, packed in about an hour and hit the road southward.

A stop at our favorite buffet we don't have up here in Oklahoma- Sweet Tomatoes, and then to the hotel to get some sleep for our adventures on Friday.

Friday we got up, filled up at breakfast and headed to Six Flags over Texas! The forecast was for possible rain in the morning warming up to 67 by afternoon. When it was still in the 50's around 2pm we decided we needed more layers. So we went back to the hotel and layered up and stopped at Walmart and hit the clearance racks to get more sweatshirts to layer on... Then headed back to the park to enjoy the rides. There's a big difference between 67 and 52 degrees which wound up being the high that day!

A few more hours of rides and we were ready to thaw out and get dinner, and then most of the family had warmed up enough to get another treat we don't have at home- Dairy Queen blizzards.

Back to the hotel for the night and a yummy breakfast and we headed back to the park for a few hours. The sun was out today and we didn't need as many layers. A few more fun rides, lunch on our way home at sweet tomato again and a smooth drive home- and our spontaneous spring break trip was in the books. Now to get back to the regular schedule...

Rocky Mountains and Idaho

We left Rich's sister and brother and their families in Keystone and headed on to Julie's family reunion in Island Park Idaho. The drive was gorgeous. I can't get enough of the views as we drove through the mountains. I was surprised at the quality of pictures I was able to get through the windshield of the car while we were speeding along at 60+ mph!  (sorry for the wierd formatting of pictures... trying different options of hosting sites here! :)) Upon arrival at the cabin in Idaho we wasted no time and started the games and fun. Grandma (my mom) had some things she shouted out and everyone that fit in the group would go and sit by the fireplace for a group picture... "A" names, Born in Utah, Born east of the missisippi, etc... it ended with all the girls and all the guys taking group pictures. The next day we went on a gorgeous hike. The kids surprised us and just took off on the hike. We had to send Rich off to catch up with them instead of tagging bac...

House projects

After a few weeks of Rich working from home, we decided that we needed to do some moving around of stuff in the house.  The exercise equipment needed to be taken out of the office, and we made the decision to dismantle Alex's room since it's downstairs and that would become the new exercise room.  His stuff got packed up, and the room was painted and the treadmill was put into that room (which was a feat of it's own!  It won't come out of that room until we move away, and maybe not even then! lol! The office got a coat of paint as well and two of the bathrooms.  Now the entire house (except for closets) has been painted since we had moved in 3 years before. But then the biggest house project was thought of, and debated and decided on.  We had always said that we would like to redo the kitchen in this house, and decided to tackle the project.  We found cabinets online we liked and worked with a company to decide on our cabinet layout, and we ordered them....

Our Dog Tale...

So... we have spent the last three weeks looking at puppies online, finding one that would be great for our family. We found an adorable little 4 month old black lab from a lab rescue in Tulsa, about an hour and a half drive away. We contacted them, and filled out the adoption application paperwork. Sent pictures of our fenced back yard, and got approved to adopt her. The lab rescue had named her Regina, for their records mainly- they generally called her puppy and girld so that she would easily adapt to a new name. We bought a large crate (she would get big!) and food bowls and a collar, leash and tag for her and on Saturday we drove to Tulsa to pick her up. The lab rescue was doing an adoption fair, so they had all the dogs they were trying to adopt out at a Petsmart and we meet them there. We got there around 1pm. As I was walking over there were a few people asking about a cute little puppy, and I overheard that it was Regina, and she was being adopted... I then said that I was Jul...
