We left my family reunion and headed over into Yellowstone. I've got so many pictures, but it really doesn't do the park justice- it's something that really has to be seen and experienced. Being from Oklahoma we see Buffalo frequently, so it was a little humerous to us when around every bend into a valley area tons of cars were pulled off the road for people to take pictures of the buffalo/bison. We only had one day to experience all we could of the park- and it is huge, so we hit some high points and had a very full day experiencing a little of each of the different area's of the park.

Our first Stop was Old Faithful. We had about an hour before it was set to go off, so we walked around the Geyser Hill and past Grand Geyser before settling in to wait for Old Faithful.
We saw Midway Geyser Basin, The Paint Pots...
We had a little laugh at someone's juice box left on a bumper... it stayed on till they stopped again- we just happened to be going to the same spot.
We realized we didn't have any knife or spoon or anything to make pb&j sandwiches with in the car, so we used a hard plastic straw to do the trick. The kids thought it was pretty funny..
The Norris Geyser Basin was full of paint pot, steam vents, and all of these tree's... I couldn't get enough pictures of the tree's on the ground. They were like sculptures with the way the roots were exposed because of the minerals that had overtaken the ground from the hot springs.
The little pools with the clear waters- just were amazing. The darker the blue, the deeper the hole.
We went to Artist Point to see the Waterfall. Beautiful sight! Even in the misty light rain it was spectacular. I love seeing all the colors that run through the rock on the canyon walls. I just can't get enough pictures of the scenery and landscapes through the mountains.
As we were leaving Artist point the traffic was at a dead standstill... we couldn't figure out why no one was moving at all... then we realized that two bison had come up from the river (or a walking path?) and crossed the road right in the middle of all the traffic. They are so large- and they were taking their time so we waited for a little while until they got safely into the tree's on the other side of the road.
Our day at yellowstone was full! We saw so many things, did so much driving, and really, there are so many other things we didn't have time to see. We missed most of the southside of the park and the northeast side because there just was not time to see it all.
Leaving through the east entrance I loved the ever changing landscapes we saw. The lake, the canyons and the mountains. I think the mountains just speak to me and I never get tired of the changing views around every corner.

I didn't get a great picture of the Mammoth Hot Springs- it was raining and I didn't spend a lot of time trying to get different angles to get a good view. But it was so neat to look at. The different colors and the formations made in the rocks. Just lots of natural beauty that I wish we had had better weather to enjoy it a little longer.

As we were driving along the shore of Yellowstone Lake, I had to snap a picture of Mary Bay... that's my mom's name! :)
