THE NEWTON'S

After our trip to Arizona and California, Rich asked me what other adventure the kids and I were going to go on this summer.  Last year I embarked on my very first kids and I trip while we left Rich at home because he didn't have vacation time left to use. We hadn't been out to Utah in two years and I had a nephew and niece that we had never seen, so we decided that the kids and I would drive out and spend some time with my family in Utah. We stopped at Rich's sister Sharon's house in Denver on our way out, and then finished the drive the next day.  The kids did great in the car and we made pretty good time.  We even took jojo out with us! We had a fun time visiting with cousins and my siblings that were in town with spouses and my parents.  I took the girls to the 4th of July Parade in Provo... we found a good spot and even managed to park pretty close.  Ashley took over the camera for much of the parade and managed to snap about 700 pictures because I ...

Yesterday was Ashley's actual birthday.  She had to wait to get her present from mom and dad and grandparents till her birthday. Rich had been down in Dallas all day, so when he got home that night she was more than ready to tear into her gifts.  She LOVES the piano book Grandma Newton sent her with Disney songs... in fact she had to get over to the piano and try some out and never ate her piece of birthday cake. lol!   Happy Birthday Ashley!

Angela wanted water fun for her birthday party. So we grabbed a slip and slide and a water hopscotch, and headed over to a friends house that has a huge yard and a little kiddie pool.  The kids had so much fun playing in the water, and hanging out and playing with water balloons.  Thanks Mary for letting us have it at your house and the great decorations!! :)

Ashley's dearest friend left today on her vacation, so we had to have her birthday party last Saturday night so she wouldn't miss it. We had 14 girls (including Ashley) over for an UNSLUMBER party (that means we fill them up with sugar and junk food and then send them home at 10pm) and they had fun making bows (thanks Amanda for the supplies and instruction!), and decorating cups.  We had the traditional slumber party dinner of pizza and chips and watched a movie and had plenty of junk food and candy and soda for them to consume.  Then they opened presents, and played some games.  Went for a walk to ding dong ditch a boy that lives the next street over (with some adult supervision) and acted like 10 and 11 year old girls having a good time!   The cake was fashioned after Ashley's bed spread- complete with the two decorative pillows she and Maddie made to match out of Fondant. :)  It was loud and crazy, but lots of fun.  I just supplied the stu...

We are fully immersed in birthdays last week and this week.  With two girls one week apart on their birthdays- the birthday celebrations and preperations tend to stay at the top of the "to do" list. We started with our family party for Angela on her birthday.  A fun make your own pizza night (as per her request) and then we had cake and opened presents from us and grandparents.
