THE NEWTON'S

Well we got a little ice storm on Monday and Tuesday. It's Thursday now and I haven't been away from home since Monday morning... I've got the driveway cleared off enough to get the cars out, but am stuck at home because the car battery is dead... the laugh's on me! Hopefully today we'll get it down to the dealership and get the battery replaced. It won't keep a charge, so it has to be jump started to go anywhere. Here are some fun pictures of the kids enjoying the ice and little bit of snow that we got. The first day home, the kids just played in the backyard. We were still getting some sleet, so they only went out for a little while inbetween the sleet/snow coming down. The next day the sun was out and shining and we went out front and slid down the driveway on cardboard boxes and papers (in plastic bags). The kids had a blast, and then went inside to warm up while I cleared the driveway.

So... we have spent the last three weeks looking at puppies online, finding one that would be great for our family. We found an adorable little 4 month old black lab from a lab rescue in Tulsa, about an hour and a half drive away. We contacted them, and filled out the adoption application paperwork. Sent pictures of our fenced back yard, and got approved to adopt her. The lab rescue had named her Regina, for their records mainly- they generally called her puppy and girld so that she would easily adapt to a new name. We bought a large crate (she would get big!) and food bowls and a collar, leash and tag for her and on Saturday we drove to Tulsa to pick her up. The lab rescue was doing an adoption fair, so they had all the dogs they were trying to adopt out at a Petsmart and we meet them there. We got there around 1pm. As I was walking over there were a few people asking about a cute little puppy, and I overheard that it was Regina, and she was being adopted... I then said that I was Jul...

Well I haven't posted on here for a while. The kids are back in school now, and we are getting back into our routine. We had a great 2 week break, but by the end of the second week the kids were starting to get grumpy from being in the house too much. They are enjoying school again. We have been going back and forth over what type of dog and what color of dog to get, but we think we might have figured it out. When we finally get it, I'll post pictures. :)

Santa Came!! The kids were thrilled with the presents they got! And then it was time to open the last present... a book from santa and a letter telling us to use the book to choose A DOG! We haven't gotten the dog yet. The family can't decide on what color of dog we'll be getting! lol! :)

We have a favorite family tradition each year of making a gingerbread house. We have been doing this for the past 5 years, with only one year skipped (the year we moved into the house on Dec 23rd! and even then, I baked the gingerbread for it, but we just didn't have time to make it). This year it was a dissapointment to us that the oven was broken and I couldn't bake our traditional gingerbread houses. So, instead we went and tried to pick up a gingerbread house kit to do. Unfortunately we couldn't find any gingerbread Houses... but we found Santa and his reindeer instead! Alex is missing from the pictures because he was so dissapointed that we didn't have stuff to make a gingerbread house, and he didn't want to participate in decorating the sleigh and reindeer. But the rest of us had fun!

I hope to get some pictures of the kids and Christmas morning up soon, but we had a great christmas! The kids got lots of wanted toys, and Santa left us a book telling us that we had to choose what DOG we would be getting for our family! We are still in negitiations within the family on what type of dog we will be getting, but when we finally make the decision, and get the puppy, we'll share a picture with everyone!
